প্রথমদিকে যথার্থই ম্যাজিকাল মনে হচ্ছিলো। কিন্তু মাঝের দিকে বেশ বিরক্তি কাজ করছিলো। কি সব উদ্ভট কথাবার্তা দিয়ে ভর্তি! কিন্তু চমক হল শেষ পাতায়। চরম শিক্ষাটি দেয়া হয়েছে বইয়ের একদম শেষে। যারা বুঝবেন জীবনে তারা আগাবেন, যারা বুঝবেন না, বইটিকে তারা হয়তো সর্বকালের অন্যতম ফালতু বই হিসেবে বিবেচনা করবেন।

The Alchemist "And,when you want something from heart and soul,all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it" -The Alchemist স্বপ্নকে বাস্তবে রূপদানের পথে বরাবরই কিছু বাধা আসে, আর সেগুলোকে অতিক্রম করতে পারলেই স্বপ্নকে ছোঁয়া যায়। কেউ তাতে দমে যায় আবার কেউ সেই বাধাগুলি থেকেই শক্তি সঞ্চয় করে যাত্রাপথে এগিয়ে চলে। আমাদের সবার উচিত অন্তরাত্মার কথা অনুসরণ করা। যা স্বয়ং ঈশ্বরের আশীর্বাদ। যখন কোনো কাজ আমাদের ভীষণ আনন্দ দেয়,বুঝতে হবে সেটিই অন্তরাত্মার দেখানো পথ। যে পথটি চিনতে পারে তার চেয়ে সৌভাগ্যবান আর কেউ নেই। আন্দালুসিয়ার রাখালবালক সান্তিয়াগোর যাত্রাও শুরু হয় স্বপ্নে দেখা গুপ্তধনের খুজে। পাড়ি জমায় অচেনা-অজানা এক সম্ভাবনাময় পথে।সেই পথে তার দেখা মেলে জিপসি বুড়ি আর সালেমের রাজার সাথে,যারা তাকে সঠিক পথ খুঁজতে সাহায্য করে। সেই জানে না, এই যাত্রায় তার জন্য অপেক্ষমাণ ওর জীবনের লক্ষ্য। কিন্তু জীবনের মানেই যে কুহেলিকা । খুব সহজেই কি সেই রহস্যের সমাধান মেলে? সেই জীবনরহস্য উন্মোচনে তাকে তিলে তিলে তৈরী করতে পথে আসে নানান বাধা।যেনো সৃষ্টিকর্তার নির্দেশেই হচ্ছে সব। জীবনের রহস্যটা হলো, "সপ্তমবার ভূপাতিত হওয়ার পরও অষ্টমবারের মতো উঠে দাঁড়ানোর ক্ষমতা"। সে দৃঢ়তার সাথে এগিয়ে চলে। কিন্ত শেষপর্যন্ত সান্তিয়াগো কি পারবে সে রহস্য উন্মোচন করতে, পাবে কি সেই গুপ্তধন? নাকি ভালোবাসা বাধা হয়ে দাঁড়াবে তার লক্ষ্যের পথে? লেখক বইয়ের শুরুতেই সুস্পষ্ট ধারণা দিয়েছেন স্বপ্ন কি। স্বপ্নের পথে কেন সবাই এগুতে পারে না,সেই বাধা-বিপত্তির কথাও তুলে ধরেছেন। চিনিয়ে দিয়েছেন সেগুলো থেকে পরিত্রাণের উপায়। কারণ বইটিও যে লেখকের তেমনি এক সফলতার প্রমাণ। বইটির প্রারম্ভে আলকেমিস্টের পড়া ছোটগল্পটি যেন সুক্ষ্ম জীবনদর্শনের প্রমাণ। গল্পটি যেন বই পড়ার ইচ্ছেটাকে দ্বিগুণ,তিনগুণ… শতগুণ বাড়িয়ে দেয়। তারপর শুরু হয় গল্পের নায়ক সান্তিয়াগোর ভ্রমণ,আর সেই পথে যেন সান্তিয়াগোর নিঃশব্দে চলা সঙ্গী হই আমি। প্রতিটি পদক্ষেপে সান্তিয়াগোর সাথে অন্তরাত্মার কথা আমিও শুনতে পাই। সান্তিয়াগোর অতিক্রম করা প্রতিটি বাধা যেন আমিও অতিক্রম করি। আমিও যেনো সান্তিয়াগোর সাথে অনুভব করি দূর থেকে আসা বাতাসকে। কাফেলার চলার পথে মরুভূমির উত্তাপ যেন আমাকেও ছুঁয়ে যায়। এককথায়, সান্তিয়াগোর সঙ্গে মিশে যাই আমি। গল্পটি এমনি ছিল। একে গল্প না ভ্রমণকাহিনী বলা যায়, যে ভ্রমণে পাঠকও সঙ্গী হয়।সমগ্র যাত্রাপথে নিজের প্রতিটি কোষে অনুভব করে রোমাঞ্চ। সুক্ষ্মজীবনবোধ,জীবনকে উপভোগের আনন্দ আর লক্ষ্য অর্জনে অর্জুনের মতো একনিষ্ঠতা মিশ্রিত হয়েছে এই গল্পে। গুপ্তধনের রহস্যের মতোই আরেকটি রহস্য হলো 'আলকেমিস্ট' শব্দটি। বইটি থেকে অনেক শিক্ষা অর্জন করা সম্ভব,যা হয়ত পুরো ছাত্রজীবন চষে বেড়ালেও পাওয়া যায় না।তার মধ্যে কিছু হলোঃ ১. লক্ষ অর্জনে একনিষ্ঠতা। ২. বাধা অতিক্রমের ক্ষমতা। ৩. দৃষ্টিভঙ্গির পরিবর্তন। ৪. ভালোবাসার আসল মানে। ৫. সবশেষে কোনো অবস্থাতেই হারা না মানা। এরকম আরো অনেক। এই দু-একটি কথায় হয়ত বুঝা সম্ভব নয় কিন্তু গল্পের মাধ্যমে প্রতিটি পদক্ষেপ যেন সেগুলি শিখিয়ে দেয় পাঠককে।লেখক যেনো নিজের জীবনেরই অর্জিত দর্শন মিশিয়েছেন তার লেখায়। বলা বাহুল্য, বইটি যখন পড়েছিলাম,তখন মানসিকভাবে বিধ্বস্ত ছিলাম। তাই হয়ত বইটির প্রতিটি কথা আমার মানসপটে গেঁথে রয়েছে এবং সারাটিজীবন থাকবে।সেই থেকেই বইটি আমি সবাইকে পড়তে পরামর্শ দিই। একটি মাত্র কারণে হলেও বইটি পড়া উচিত আর সেটি হলো জীবনে সঠিক মানেটা জানা। পরিশেষে, বইটি পড়ে দুশ্চিন্তা,হতাশা সব যেনো ধুলোয় মিশে গিয়ে স্বাদ দেয় এক অপূর্ব জীবনের। লেখকঃ পাওলো কোয়েলহো ব্যক্তিগত রেটিংঃ ৯/১০

Most of the lines from The Alchemist are wonderful, deep. They carry beautiful meanings, from the deepest philosophy of the universe. But the story seemed quite ordinary to me... the story went along very smoothly, but other than the motivational philosophies, the story is a very brief one. I really didn't feel like the best book of the planet while reading The Alchemist. Probably I'll have to read this again to find it out.

Story of a Spanish shepherd who follows his destiny in search of treasure hidden by the Egyptian pyramids. He sells his sheep for having enough money to get to the pyramids but gets robbed midway. Years after years he goes through occurrences and learns the language of the world. He meets with a king, an Englishman, an alchemist and above all his love Fatima on the desert of Arab. You can never guess the finishing :v The book contains a quote of the writer Paulo Coelho which I previously thought an original of Sharukh Khan :p ---“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." However, a different read for me since long!

It’s a great book.when some one read this book he will be learn outstanding knowledge.

This book left a big impression on me. While reading through the book you can tell that the author is wise, that he has lived a long time, because of the messages he shares through the characters in his story. It’s almost as if, while you’re reading it, you can imagine your grandfather telling it to you as if it’s a tale from his childhood. I always thought that novels were a waste of time because you never learn any “real life” lessons from them, but this book finally proved me wrong. The story itself is special. Even when I was 8 I never had an imagination quite like the author’s. There were a few times where I seriously couldn’t sleep, reading impatiently in the middle of the night to find out what happened next.

The alchemist is one of the most beautiful books I've read. There are some books that puts a long lasting impact on you, the alchemist can surely be put on that class. After reading this book it's a lot easier to believe in fate, which really is a strange thing. Love this book.

সম্ভবত এই বইটির কথা আপনি কোথাও না কোথাও শুনেছেন। বইটি এতই চমৎকার যে বিশ্বব্যাপী জনপ্রিয় হতে দেরি হয় নি। খুবই ছোট একটি বই, পড়তে বেশি সময় লাগবে না। কথায় বলে না, ছোট মরিচে ঝাল বেশি! ছোট এই বইয়ের মেসেজটাই অন্তরের ভেতরে নাড়া দিয়ে বিশ্বাসের শক্তিকে জাগিয়ে তোলার জন্য যথেষ্ট।

Because Life Wants you to Achieve your Destiny......!!! কাহিনীচিত্র : আন্দালুসিয়ানের (Andalusian) কোন এক ভাঙ্গা গীর্জায় আকাশ বেয়ে নেমে আসা অন্ধকারে নিজের ভেড়ার পাল নিয়ে রাত্রিযাপনের জন্য আসে রাখাল সান্তিয়াগো (Santiago)। নিজের গায়ের ভারী জামাটা দিয়ে মেঝেটা পরিষ্কার করে মাত্রই পড়ে শেষ করা বইটাকে বালিশ বানিয়ে ঘুমের অতলে ডুব দেয় সান্তিয়াগো। সপ্তাহখানেক আগে দেখা স্বপ্নে ঘুম ভেঙ্গে যায় ছেলেটার। অনেক চিন্তার সাথে সাথে গেল বছরে উল বিক্রি করতে যেয়ে পরিচিত হওয়া বনিকের মেয়েটার কথাও ওর মনে পড়ে। একজন রাখাল হয়ে কিভাবে পড়ালেখা জানে তাইই অবাক করেছিলো মেয়েটাকে। আর সান্তিয়াগোর ভ্রমন কাহিনী গুলোও ভয় আর বিস্ময়ের সাথে সাথে ভালো লেগেছিলো মেয়েটার। সান্তিয়াগোর সেবারই প্রথম এমন কোন অনুভূতি হয় যা আগে কখনো হয়নি এক জায়গায় সারাজীবন কাটিয়ে দেয়ার ইচ্ছা। কিন্তু সান্তিয়াগো ভাবে এবার দেখা হলে মেয়েটাকে কি করে বলবে যে সান্তিয়াগো ষোল বছর পর্যন্ত পাঠশালায় পড়ালেখা করেছে আর তার বাবা মা চেয়েছিল যেন ছেলেটা হয় যাজক আর পরিবারে আসে সম্মান। কিন্তু সান্তিয়াগোর জীবনের লক্ষ্য ছিলো পরিভ্রমণ। ইশ্বর আর পাপ সম্পর্কে জানার চাইতে পৃথিবীকে জানাটাই বেশী গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মনে হয়েছিলো সান্তিয়াগোর। তাই একদিন বুকে সাহস নিয়ে বাবাকে জানায় ব্যাপারটা। বাবা জানায় ব্যাপারটা অনর্থক। জীবন পরিবর্তনের জন্য মানুষ ভ্রমণ করে অথচ দিন শেষে সবাই একা।তারপরও বাবার আশীর্বাদ পড়ে ছেলেটার উপর। ঘুম থেকে উঠে এসব ভাবনার সাথে সাথে স্বপ্নটার কথাও মনে পড়ে ছেলেটার। সাথে সাথে এও মনে পড়ে তারিফায় (Tarifa) এক বয়েসি মহিলা আছে যে স্বপ্নের ব্যাখ্যা দিয়ে থাকে। তারিফার (Tarifa) সে স্বপ্নদ্রষ্টা বয়েসি মহিলা সান্তিয়াগোকে জানায় মিশরের পিরামিডের পাদদেশে আছে যা গুপ্তধন যা শুধুমাত্রই সান্তিয়াগোর অপেক্ষায়। সান্তিয়াগো বিশ্বাস করে না কিন্তু সেই বয়েসি মহিলা আরো জানায় স্বপ্ন ব্যাখ্যার পারিশ্রমিক হিসাবে গুপ্তধনের দশ ভাগের এক ভাগ দিতে হবে মহিলাকে। সান্তিয়াগো তার বাসা থেকে বের হয়ে শহরের মূল চত্বরে এসে বসে একা। সান্তিয়াগো যখন হাতে থাকা বইটায় মনোযোগ দিয়েছে ঠিক তখনই এক অদ্ভুত মধ্য বয়েসি লোক এসে বসে ওর পাশে। কথা বলতে বলতে মধ্য বয়েসী লোকটা জানায় সে সালেম দেশের রাজা আর সে জানে কোথায় আছে সান্তিয়াগোর গুপ্তধন কিন্তু বিনিময়ে তাকে দশটা ভেড়া দিতে হবে। বেমালুল ভুলে যাওয়া ব্যাপারটা আবার মাথাচাড়া দেয় সান্তিয়াগোর মনে। সান্তিয়াগো সিদ্ধান্ত নেয় গুপ্তধনের উদ্দেশ্যে চুটে চলার। আফ্রিকার তাঞ্জিয়ার (Tangier) এক মদের দোকান থেকেই শুরু হয় সান্তিয়াগোর গুপ্তধনের উদ্দেশ্যে যাত্রা। চোরের কবলে পড়ে এক স্ফটিক ব্যবসায়ীর সাথে পরিচয় হয় ছেলেটার। এখানেই জানতে পারে মাকতুব এর কথা, ভাগ্যের কথা, ভাগ্যের অন্বেষণ এর কথা আর জীবন সম্পর্কে। বেশ মোটা টাকা জমিয়ে স্ফটিক ব্যবসায়ীর থেকে বিদায় নিয়ে পিরামিডের উদ্দেশ্যে পা বাড়ায় সান্তিয়াগো। পথিমধ্যে পরিচয় হয় এক ইংরেজের সাথে যে কিনা এ্যালকেমিস্টের সন্ধানে বেড়িয়েছে। যাত্রা পথে সে একজন এ্যালকেমিস্টকে পায় যে কিনা বিশ্বের না বলা ভাষা সম্পর্কে বলে, যে বিশ্ব আত্মার কথা বলে, যে পরমাত্মার কথা বলে, যে ভালোবাসার কথা বলে। সান্তিয়াগো ভালোবাসা পায় ফাতিমাকে পায়। এদিকে মরুভূমিতে যুদ্ধ বেধেছে। সামনে প্রতিকূল অবস্থা। সামনে এগিয়ে যাওয়া মানেই নির্ঘাত মৃত্যু আর পেছনে ফাতিমার কোমল চেহারাটা। সামনে গুপ্তধনের আশা বিশ্বজয়ের আশা বিশ্বের ভাষা বুঝার জানার প্রেরণা কিন্তু পেছনে ফাতিমার ভালোবাসা। সামনে ফিলোসফার'স স্টোনের দেখা পাওয়া আর এ্যালকেমিস্টের তত্ত্ব জানা আর পেছনে ফাতিমার সাথে মরুভুমিতে সুখের সংসার। সান্তিয়াগো কি করবে এখন....? ফাতিমাকে ছেড়ে অজানা গুপ্তধনের উদ্দেশ্যে পা বাড়াবে বিপদসংকুল মরুভূমির পথে নাকি ফাতিমার কাছে থেকে যাবে...? কি করবে সান্তিয়াগো এখন...? সত্যিকার অর্থেই কি সান্তিয়াগো সেই গুপ্তধনের সন্ধান পায়...? সান্তিয়াগো কি গুপ্তধনের জন্য যুদ্ধবিগ্রহ মরুভূমি পাড়ি দিতে পারে...? সান্তিয়াগো কি ফেলে যাওয়া মরুভূমির মেয়ে ফাতিমাকে নিজের করে পায়...? শেষ অবধি কি হয় সান্তিয়াগোর আর এই উপন্যাসের তা জানতে হলে আপনাকে অবশ্যই হারিয়ে যেতে হবে পাওলো কোয়েলহো'র জাদুবাস্তবতা আর তার প্রভাবে। 'দ্যা এ্যালকেমিস্ট' সত্যিকার অর্থেই একটি মডার্ণ ক্লাসিক। লেখক প্রসঙ্গ : পাওলো কোয়েলহো'র জীবনটা এতটাও সহজ ছিলো না। লেখালেখির ভুত মাথায় চাপাতে তাকে পরিবার থেকে দু দুবার মানসিক হাসপাতালে পাঠানো হয়। এরপরের জীবনগুলোও ছিলো কষ্টের আর সেই ভাগ্য যা কোয়েলহোকে কখনোই সাপোর্ট করে নি। কিন্তু তাই বলে থেমে থাকেনি কোহেলহো সান্তিয়াগোর মতো ছুটে গিয়েছিলো নিজের গুপ্তধনের সন্ধানে। আজ সে ব্রাজিলিয়ান অন্যতম সাহিত্যিক যার বই বিশ্ব বেস্ট সেলারের মর্যাদা পেয়েছে। আধ্যাত্মিকতা বাস্তবতা আর জীবনচর্চা তার লেখার মূল প্রতিপাদ্য বিষয়। অনুবাদ প্রসঙ্গ : যদিও আমি ইংরেজী পেপারব্যাকই পড়েছি তাও বাংলা অনুবাদটা হাতে ধরেছিলাম কিন্তু দুই এক লাইন পড়ে মনে হয়েছে ইংলিশে যা বুঝেছি অনুবাদ পড়লে তাও ভুলে যাবো। অনুবাদটা ভালো হয়নি। অনুবাদকদের প্রতি যথেষ্ট সম্মান দেখেই বলছি এত ভালো একটা সাহিত্য অথচ অনুবাদটা :( কিছু ভালো লাগা কথা.....!! # When you Want Something, All the Universe Conspires to Help you Achieve it. # It's Not What Enters Men's Mouths that's Evil, It's What Comes Out of their Mouths is. # Love Never Keep a Man from Pursuing his Destiny, if he Abandones that Pursuit, it's because. it wasn't True Love. # There is Only One Thing that makes a Dream Impossible to Achieve : The Fear of Failure. # No Matter What he Does, Every Person on Earth Plays a Central Role in the History of World and Normally he doesn't know it. কিছু কিছু বই আছে যা মানুষকে নতুন করে বাচতে শেখায়, নতুন করে জীবনকে চেনায়, জীবনের কণ্টকাকীর্ণ পথগুলোতে কিভাবে নিজেকে স্থির রাখতে হয়, হতাশাগ্রস্ত জীবনটাকে কিভাবে নতুন রুপে সাজিয়ে নেয়া যায় তারই কথা বয়ান করে। 'দ্যা এ্যালকেমিস্ট' এমনই একটা অনুপ্রেরণামূলক বই। যারা এখনো পড়েননি নির্দ্বিধায় পড়তে পারেন।

ভাগ্য কি? আপনি কি ভাগ্যে বিশ্বাসী? কতটুকু বিশ্বাস করেন? এতটাই বিশ্বাস করেন কি যে এর জন্য সব ছেড়ে এবং সব বাধা বিপত্তি জয় করে লক্ষ্যে পৌছাঁনোর মতো মনোবল আছে আপনার? মানুষ স্বপ্ন দেখতে ভালোবাসে. কল্পনার জগতে সে আনন্দ খুঁজে পায়. কিন্তু সে স্বপ্ন বা কল্পনাকে বাস্তব করার পথটি যতটা সহজ ভাবা যায় ততটা সহজ না. এমনই নিজের স্বপ্নের উপর ভিত্তি করে নিজের ভাগ্য অন্বেষনে বেড়িয়েছিলো সান্তিয়াগো. আদালুসিয়ানের (Andalusian) রাখাল বালক সান্তিয়াগো (Santiago) ভ্রমন করতে চায়. কিন্তু তার বাবা তাকে বলে এ বিষয়টি অনর্থক. অনেকেই জীবন পরিবর্তনের জন্য ভ্রমন করে কিন্তু দিন শেষে তারা সেই একই রকম থাকে. কিন্তু সান্তিয়াগো জানে সে নিজের ইচ্ছা পূরনের ব্যাপারে হাল ছাড়বে না. তারিফা (Tarifa) নামক এক স্থানে একজন নারীর কাছে যায় সান্তিয়াগো যে কিনা স্বপ্নের ব্যাখ্যা দিতে পারে. সে সান্তিয়াগোর কথা শুনে তাকে জানায় যে, মিশরের পিরামিডে সান্তিয়াগো মূল্যবান সম্পদ খুজেঁ পাবে যা তাকে ধনী করবে. কথাটি অনেকটা হেসে উড়িয়ে দেয় সান্তিয়াগো. কিন্তু স্বপ্ন ব্যাখ্যাকারী মহিলাটি সে সম্পদের দশ ভাগের এক ভাগ চায় যা তাকে আশা দেয়. এরপরেই নিজের যাত্রার জন্য প্রস্তুত হয় সান্তিয়াগো. এরপর থেকেই বিভিন্ন বাধার মুখে পড়তে থাকে সে. দেখা হয় অনেকের সাথে. কেউ তার জন্য ছিলো মঙ্গলজনক আবার কেউ তাকে ফেলে দেয় বিপদে. শেষ পর্যন্ত কি সম্পদের দেখা পায় সে. নাকি সম্পূর্ন বিষয়টি ছিল আধ্যাত্মিক কিছু. ************** আমার মতে, অনুপ্রেরনামূলক বইগুলোর মধ্যে সেরা বই The Alchemist. বইয়ের প্রতিটি পাতায় পাতায় আছে হার না মেনে লক্ষ্যে পৌছাঁনোর বার্তা. যে কোন কিছু পেতে হলে ভীত না হয়ে সাহসিকতার সাথে এগিয়ে যাওয়ার গল্প এটি. ভয়কে জয় করার গল্প. মানব জীবন উথান পতনের মধ্য দিয়ে এগিয়ে যায়. ভালো সময় আমাদের আনন্দ দেয় এবং খারাপ সময় আমাদের শিক্ষা দেয়. সান্তিয়াগোর গল্পে আলাদীনের জাদুর কুপি ছিলো না. তার ইচ্ছা পূরনের জন্য ছিলো না কোন দৈত্য. কিন্তু তার ছিল নিজের প্রতি অগাধ বিশ্বাস এবং ইচ্ছাশক্তি যা তাকে হতাশ করেনি কখনো. তাই আর কিছু না হলেও এ বই পড়ে জীবন যুদ্ধে এগিয়ে যাওয়ার মনোবল আরো দৃঢ় হয়ে যায়. এছাড়া পুরো বই জুড়ে রয়েছে অসাধারন সব উক্তি.

বইয়ের ভিতরের কথা এখানে বলবো না। ইউটিউবে দেখে নিন, অনেক সুন্দর রিভিউ পাবেন। উল্লেখ্য যে বইটি টানা ৩০০ সপ্তাহ বিশ্বে বেস্ট সেলার বইয়ের মধ্যে এক নম্বরে ছিলো। রিভিউ শুনে আমি ৫/৫ দিবো। তবে এখানে কথা হবে বইয়ের লেখা বাদে আনুষাঙ্গিক বিষয় নিয়ে। যেহেতু বিদেশি বই, এবং অরিজিনাল তাই দামটা একটু বেশিই বলা চলে। পেপারপ্যাক কভার। পেইজ মোটামুটি ভালোই। স্মেলটা অসাধারণ। তবে যাদের অরিজিনাল বই কালেক্ট করার সখ, তারা নিঃসন্দেহে কিনতে পারেন।

This book is very inspiring and what I really need right now to motivate myself with my everyday endeavors. In the end the boy in the story who was searching for his treasure, despite the long travels and experiences, find his treasure not in the place where he suspected it to be, but in the place where he came from. It's just pretty ironic that what have you looking for is in the end is just beside you right from the beginning. It's just that what he learned and discovered from his travel is another treasure that he should realize in order to appreciate himself and the things around him. A very inspiring and positive book, it actually gives me hope that the things that I aspire for will in the end I would achieve if only I strive hard and don't lose hope until I get it. Sometimes the detours and the problems that we face now were later on in our life will make sense and when you remember that moment especially if you had overcome it you will know that you are thankful for that to happen because in the end you would learn something from it.

At first, i bought the Bengali version of this book. I read that book twice in a week just to understand what I have just read because it was hard to grasp all the things written in the book. Then I thought I should buy the English version because I was feeling there are some translation mistake. I read that english version twice as well. And now I have come to this conclusion that this book should be read after every 6 month or 1 year. And thus it will keep unraveling our layer of mind.

The Alchemist is definitely one of the most impactful books I have read till now.It shows us the reality of life and our dreams in a quite well narrated adventure.Its like one of the best classic fictions out there (at least to me it is) and I would definitely recommend anyone to read this.

It's not everyday you find an author who's fiction has sold more than 65 million copies world wide and of course one doesn't need to review when the work speaks for itself. Getting down to the story itself - The story is about the journey of an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago and his escapades which will involve life's ups and downs along with the priceless rewards life offers for one who stands till the end. Santiago, believing a recurring dream to be of higher purpose, decides to travel to a nearby town to discover its meaning. A gypsy woman tells him that there is treasure in the Pyramids in Egypt. I've to be honest, it seemed a bit too religious for my liking when I started and I did find myself getting a wee bit bored in the first couple of chapters. But I don't remember at what point, I was hooked on to the book and I finished it in one sitting. Soon after I finished the book, I felt a silence and a sense of awe in me. I consider good writing to be something that offers a positive change and evokes positive emotions. This book did just that bringing back the best of positive emotions- love and hope. In a way, I could say The Alchemist re-ignited my rusty-dreams back into action. There is a lot to learn from the story and it is going to take a bit to process it. I would say you'll need to take the reading lightly - Just read it till the end with an open mind and let the story sink into your subconscious. Whether you like it or not, be assured for a positive change - it will come to you, just keep your mind open. বইটি কেনার আগে যখন কয়েক পাতা পড়েছিলাম, তখনই বইটি আমায় আকৃষ্ট করেছিলো। বইটির গল্প খুবই অসাধারণ। পাঠককে রোমাঞ্চ, অন্য দেশের সংস্কৃতি সম্পর্কে ধারণা, টান টান উত্তেজনা, অনুপ্রাণিত করতে বইটির জুড়ি নেই। পৃথিবীর সর্বাধিক বিক্রিত বইগুলোর মধ্যে একটি এটি। গল্পটি এতই মনোমুগ্ধকর যে আমি দিনে প্রায় ২-৩ ঘন্টা করে কয়েকদিনের মধ্যেই বইটি পড়ে শেষ করে ফেলি।

Wonderful book ! It's the story of a shepherd boy, who fulfills his destiny against so many odds, just by believing in his dreams and following his heart.. He journeys to the exotic markets of North Africa and then Egyptian desert. He is looted, beaten.., but he never stopped and again started from scratch..... Story shows that we can learn from everything and everyone which is around us, for boy one of the important teacher was his camel driver, for us it can be our driver or beggar which we find daily in our bus stop or our pet. Story tells that there are many fears revolving around us like loosing wealth or job or girlfriend , which are not letting us to listen to our heart and fulfill our destiny and live more enriched life. Further it shows how everyone and everything has specific role in his life, which cannot be played by other, as work of iron plough cannot be done by gold one. Further it also tells about true love, one which never helds you back while fulfilling your destiny, it will help us to find our own Fatima... "one is loved because one is loved, no reason is needed for loving." If you have come so far reading my review, then this is a good omen, follow your heart...., buy this book, mark my words after reading this book, you will be thankful to me... Follow your heart.... It is one of the best book I ever read back in my school days. The reader will definitely feel the change this book will bring to his/her life. Each and every line is written so thoughtfully that you will feel lost in its world, even after you finish reading it. :)

I have read the few pages of this book while I was in one of my colleagues house. I was thrilled and decided to by the original copy of the book as a token of my liking rather than a Nilkhet's photocopy. I had received this book yesterday from Rokomari. This book is really great.
